Hi! I’m Shannon Tobias your Integrative Genetics Based Nutritionist

Personal Story

Meet Shannon Tobias

Clinical Detective | Nutrigenomics Expert | G.E.M.M. Accredited Clinician

My Journey: From Mental Health to Cellular Health

My path to nutrigenomics wasn’t a straight line—it was a calling. At nine years old, I decided I wanted to help people heal, eventually earning my Master’s Degree and dual licenses as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and a Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). For years, I served foster youth and patients in hospital settings. I loved my work, yet I found myself spending every spare moment devouring research on physical health and biochemistry.

The Turning Point

The shift from the “therapy room” to the “lab” became personal when my son stopped growing at the age of one. After years of the medical system missing the mark, it was my own relentless research—what some might call “crazy mom” determination—that finally found the answer. Today, he is a healthy, thriving young man.

This experience made me look back at my own mother’s grueling battle with the medical system and her eventual diagnosis of Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia. I began to wonder: Were these “unsolvable” cases actually solvable?

The Answer is “Yes”

After years of intensive study, certifications, and clinical deep-dives, I’ve learned that the traditional medical system often overlooks the root causes of complex health struggles.

I’ve realized that understanding the what and the why behind a health crisis is essential for more than just the body—it is vital for the soul. When you finally understand why your body is responding the way it is, you find the clarity and motivation to do the work required to heal.

Why I’m the Right Partner for Your Journey

Root-cause healing is high-level detective work. It requires patience, precision, and an obsession with the details. Thanks to my own unique genetic makeup (specifically my COMT and MAOA genes!), I am biologically wired for this type of meticulous investigation.

I combine the empathy of a seasoned therapist with the clinical rigor of a nutrigenomics expert. I know it isn’t always easy or quick, but I also know that your health issues are solvable—and I have the tools and the heart to help you find the way back.

Formal Training

Formal Training

I stepped away from traditional therapy to pursue a certification through the Integrative Functional Nutrition Academy. I was drawn to the integrative medicine philosophy and whole-body systems approach — looking beyond symptoms to understand why the body is responding the way it is. The program included over a year of intensive coursework followed by three additional months of mentorship with experienced practitioners in the field.

During that mentorship, I was introduced to 3×4 Genetics. Genetics was something I had explored years earlier to better understand my own challenges with anxiety and sleep, but 3×4 transformed my perspective. Instead of focusing on a single SNP, I learned how multiple genes working within the same pathway can influence health over time. No one gene derails health — but patterns within pathways can. This approach allowed me to create highly personalized recommendations and helped resolve long-standing issues for many of my clients. I later completed additional training and mentorship with 3×4 Genetics and continue to consult and train with them regularly.

My genetics work led me to the G.E.M.M. (Gut Ecology and Metabolic Modulation) training and certification. This program focuses on supporting beneficial gene expression while reducing harmful processes within the body — essentially helping the body heal from within. It provides a framework capable of addressing a wide range of chronic health concerns at their root.

Today, the focus of my work is helping you understand your unique genetic blueprint so we can optimize your health, resilience, and longevity.

Sign up for a free consultation.  Shannon wants you to be successful.  If she isn’t sure she can help you, she will be honest. Maybe she can refer you to someone who can.

Shannon will send you a very short intake first.  She will review it and then meet with you for about 20 minutes to discuss your goals.

Cost is an issue.  Unfortunately, when you have hit a dead end with allopathic doctors, with many insurance plans, everything is out of pocket.  All functional testing and supplementation is expensive.  The packages are designed to prepare you for the time and cost of healing with nutrition.  Depending on your current health concerns we want you to be fully prepared for the investment.  Shannon will be able to give you a good estimate of the cost and time it will take to get better.  This is real and unfortunate but it is important.  We don’t want you surprised or giving up half way through because the cost was greater than expected.  The consultation is meant to better understand what your needs are make a package recommendation.

Good Question!  If you are hoping to optimize your supplements and longevity it will take one consultation, and one 90 minute appointment.  If you have been sick for a long time, it may take 3 months to start feeling better and an entire year to say you are healed.  You can repair the gut in as little as 6 weeks and many conditions resolve shortly after.

Shannon is located in Southern California.  She can meet in office in Temecula, or virtually.  Often, virtually is better because genetic pathways are better understood using charts and images.
